Okay, and just yeah. Hi there, everyone. This is Tracy Morris with Beauty, Women, Beauty and Spirit Align.
And I'm joined with Kat Haynes. And we're bringing you another podcast. And we have an awesome guest coming on today.
So yeah, Kat, go ahead. What do you want to throw out there? Hey, everyone, thanks for joining us again today. Yes, we have our first guest on this podcast.
So this is someone who truly inspires both of us. And we have both chosen her to be our business mentor and friend. And we're so excited that she gets to be on here today to share what she does, and a little bit about her journey as well.
So please welcome Sam Bell Inspired. Oh, thank you so much. So so amazing to be here.
I'm so proud. I'm like a proud mama sitting here. Congratulations on your podcast.
Oh, thank you. It means a lot that it, you know, a couple months ago, when we were sitting in a hotel room discussing things, and then I mean, meeting Kat going, you're the one, you're the one who's supposed to do this podcast. So in the last, what, four months, we've evolved quite, quite a bit.
So I love it. I mean, I created this mentorship program, and I had no idea when I created it, I never thought about the connections between the mentees and what would arise, you know, I mean, we have a podcast, oh my goodness, it's a journey. And it's fantastic.
So thank you, I'm honored to be your first guest. Awesome. So Sam, today, we're going to talk a little bit about self esteem and self awareness.
But first of all, I think we'd like to let our listeners know what exactly is what you do. So yeah, my background is in nursing and midwifery. And I had a little bit of a, an epiphany.
A few years ago, my marriage came to an end. And then shortly after that, I got a head injury. And I thought my nursing career had come to an end.
And I thought, no, I've got to do something. I'm a single mom now, I need to figure this out, I've got to fix it. And so I decided to become an integrative health coach, holistic health coach.
So bringing a lot of my nursing experience into my coaching, the one area that I had no idea about at all was spirituality. And my, my co students decided to take me under their metaphorical angel wings and guide me, because they were all talking about chakras and Kundalini, and they all did yoga, and it was all a little bit woo woo for me. And they decided to take me under their wings and introduce me to the world of spirituality.
And honestly, I've not looked back. It's been amazing. So I do coach mainly women, but also men to be able to stop existing in their lives and start living their lives with purpose.
You know, it's the most beautiful gift, if we can achieve that while we are living, and and before it's too late, you know, so that we can just live to our full potential. And that's where you guys, you know, you guys have got so much potential. And I've met both of you along my spiritual journey.
And now with your businesses as an extension of yourselves and the purpose that you have, you know, people, people need to need to know you and experience your work and your contribution. And that's what I just love to do. I love to help individuals to achieve that purpose and passion and joy, and it to be easy.
Yes, that that definitely sums it up for sure. And I'll just share a little bit about how I knew that you were going to be the right business coach for me. So I first met Sam at one of the angel days that was hosted by Cindy Smith, I was becoming an angel empowerment practitioner.
And I had also signed up to do angel empowerment healing, which would have been months down the road. So I attend this angel day, and then Sam speaks, and I hear her British accent. And I was like, Ooh, I always love the British accents.
And there was something about your voice that just really captivated me. So I was like, Okay, okay. And then I don't know, maybe it was three or four months later that the angel empowerment healing course was finally taking place.
And I was able to get to know you more personally and one on one. And then as you were sharing, you had mentioned how you you did business coaching. So I was a couple months into starting my business last year, and feeling very lost and wasn't sure where to go.
And then it was just like this light bulb moment went off. And I was like, interesting. So I signed up.
And then it was a year of transition for me and just really figuring everything out with what I was doing. And I had a lot of time where I was, it was just a lot of figuring out right. And then, yeah, I'd say, by fall, it was really starting to sink in, and we were building some momentum.
And then it was right after that, when I was volunteering for the the New Earth Expo, where Tracy says, Cat, you're the one to do the podcast with, and we reconnected. And and that was when things really ignited. And then it was like this, we call it the the Sam Bell inspired trifecta, where there's three of us, like me, Tracy and Sam, and we've got this friendship energy that's within us.
So now it's gone from just learning about how to do business and take that off to really fulfilling all of our life purposes. And I think we've all realized that doing it together is better than just doing it on our own. So how about you, Tracy? How did you connect with Sam and know that you were ready to do the mentorship? Well, I think it was about eight years ago was the first time I ever met Sam, and it was at an Angel Day, and you were flitzing in and out.
I think it's about eight years ago. And I was still first time ever Angel Day still looking around going, Okay, but the one thing about Sam that caught my attention while she was flitzing in and out, and this is no word of a lie, but her smile. She was always smiling.
And it was like, I hadn't even heard her speak yet. We fought with the accent, but it was her smile. And it was like, I like her, I'd like to get to know to know her.
And then that was it. I didn't see her for quite some time. And then where I really connected with Sam was at the retreat that we did at Pine Lake.
We did the card reading. I had some growth and some questions. And Sam got me directed and it talked about her business, inspiring business.
And I was like, Yeah, okay, okay. And I was going through some growth myself. And we've just kind of kept in contact back and forth always doing Angel Days or doing different events together.
And then the time I met you, I was rooming with Sam. And a lot of things were brought to my attention. And just watching how Sam herself was doing things and how happy she was, but yet she could come to the hotel room and just release and honor everything that was going on with her.
It was just, it was refreshing. And then to sit down with her and just talk a little bit about what was going on in my life and how to get my business going and stuff. And it just, everything just kind of, we got on Voxer together and everything just clicked and away we went.
And I don't look back. I am so happy I have made this move because just the cyclic living, like living by the moon has helped me so much. Right.
And it's amazing. I would, I mean, yeah, but I'm really, really happy I've made this big jump. And I'm very, very grateful for you, Sam, for being able to listen and see who we actually are as people.
You know, you've touched on so many things there. I mean, this is all in unscripted. We always wing it, right girls? You've said a couple of things there and I'm, it's not a natural thing for me to sit and take the compliments that you've both given.
And I've really learned over the last few years that no, you step into that power, take that, you know, receive exactly. And one of the things that you mentioned there was my smile. And I know that you guys know the story about my smile, but I think for your listeners, I'll just share it.
Because it really was, my smile evolved when my spirit aligned with what I now know is my natural beauty. For years and years and years, I thought that my smile was ugly because I was told that my smile was ugly. I was actually told that the next school photographs that were going to be taken of myself and my sister were not going to be done together because I ruined the photographs.
So I, and I realised as well, looking back that I used to, what they used to say, I used to bite my mouth and I would chew my mouth and I would get all of this red chafing around my lips. And when I smiled, it would crack, it would be so sore. And I remember being told how ugly my face was, and that it looked like a monkey's backside.
And so it became very natural to me to accept that I was ugly. And I ended up going into my late teen years and early adulthood wearing a lot of makeup, but I wore a lot of makeup to cover up all my imperfections that I thought were all my imperfections and basically save the world from this ugly face. I wouldn't go, I wouldn't be seen by anyone unless I put all of my makeup on and don't go to the 80s and the hairspray and my hair had to be perfect.
And one of the biggest things during my spiritual growth, and when I talk about spiritual growth, that was very much my growth, getting to know me, my essence, who I am. And as I remember seeing somebody doing a bare face challenge, it was, you know, when Facebook was all the rage. And I was like, oh my goodness, she's so brave.
And I thought, I can do that. I'm going to do that. And I did.
I actually went out grocery shopping without my makeup on. And of course, I ran into people that I knew. But I was so proud of myself.
And then I started to realise that there was a skill to applying makeup so that you appear to have a bare face. But the difference is that you're not covering things up. You're accentuating the good points of your features, your features, like my smile.
I very rarely go anywhere without my lipstick, because I've had so many people who compliment me on my smile. And I love smiling, and I'm always smiling. And when I used to smile, and I used to see my eyes wrinkle up, I used to think that that was so ugly.
And now I realise no, my smile is, my eyes are part of my smile. And so I use minimal makeup to accentuate my eyes. So I've come a whole, I would say 360s in my own beauty regime.
But the biggest thing to me is realising that all those years of covering up something that was so natural and so beautiful about me, and welcomed people in. I have never had as many people and friendships in my life as I have since I've done this growth and smiled. So that's the story about my smile.
I love that. Yeah, it's so it's so beautiful what symbolism that brings when you're smiling. And yeah, I experienced times in my life where I was hiding behind a mask in a sense.
And I think I've mentioned in the past how I went through a semi goth phase, I say, where I was, I was really into the the dark makeup and you know, the black clothes and, and I found that it was a way that unconsciously, I was seeking attention. But yet I was holding up a guard and saying, you can't, you can't get close and hurt me. And then once I realised that I was able to say, I'm always going to be funky and unique.
And I don't have to be scary. And then as I've also become more spiritual, I found naturally, I'm not as attracted to the darker, lower energy images and things like that. But yeah, and then after I had that realisation, my appearance changed, I took out all my piercings, I started wearing colour in my clothing.
And now I joke that I'm so I'm so far on the colour spectrum that goes beyond any normal person. I wear so many colours. I love the pastel rainbows and bright, fun things.
I rarely wear black now. But it's funny how how that happens. What about you, Tracy? I'm just trying to think.
I've got so many imperfections. One of them, one of my big thing is, is my bells policy that I have. I have a very crooked smile.
And it only when I'm under a lot of stress, you really notice it. But my smile is very crooked. So I always have to go this, like, we have this side, so it straightens it out.
But when as soon as you one sides up higher, so I've always had that is an imperfection when it comes to makeup. I was I was no, I wore makeup from the time I was 15 until I was 40. Again, fighting stuff used to go get Botox because my little 11s were a little too strong or the lines in my and now I've just embraced it.
It's just like, you told a story, Sam, about the Asian women, how they embrace their menopause, and they just. So that story is really stuck with me. And it's like embrace, because I know I put the heavy duty makeup on because I want to hide all this stuff.
And all you see is more. And my glasses magnifying, you're going to see those lines even more. So it's like, okay, you're making yourself look worse with more.
So use less and see what happens. And since then, I basically wear eyelashes and lip gloss and I'm out the door. If I've got a big thing going, then yeah, okay, I'll put some a little bit of makeup on but I've embraced this is me, right? This is me and all my quirky little things.
I'm different than others. I don't fit in properly with this family of mine and I fit in here. But you know, it's just, I have a lot of little imperfections.
And I just work with each one as it comes like, and I know there's been a lot of growth in that a lot of growth with that and and accepting who I am. I love that you referred to the Asian culture with regards to well, as women, you know, in in Western culture, you're seeing a sort of past yourself by date by the time you reach menopause, right? You're less than a woman. And, and that is something that the patriarchy has everything, marketing, everything, it all I remember going into.
And it wasn't Victoria's Secret. It was the other brand that Victoria's Secret do... Pink? Or Lozenza? No, I think it was the first one. Yeah.
Pink? Yeah. And I remember going in there and I remember these two girls looking at me very disapprovingly, because they don't cater for my age group. Whoa, so that is just an example of how being an older woman in society, you know, as society, I don't blame those girls.
That is what they've been told that their client group is this age group, this demographic. But in other cultures, and especially in the East Asian culture, when a woman reaches their menopause, they actually are revered as being reaching the epitome of a woman, they are being they are now the best that they can be, they've evolved to become this perfect woman, you know, embracing the, the crone, right. And when the research was done, I remember being fascinated about the menopause and research, because my clinical background, there is research that says that East Asian women, the symptoms that they complain about for menopause is amenorrhea, the loss of their periods.
And yet here in Western culture, it, it's everything is the heavy periods, the mood swings, it's the hot flashes, flushes, it's the, you know, all of the things that are so negative. And I wonder how much of that we take on because society is expecting us to feel we're less than we're past our sell by date, we're aging, you know, and yet, as I say, East Asian women, they, they love and they're revered for being this beautiful, mature woman. And we probably need to look at that as a mindset rather than trying to fit in, which is what you've explained yourself, you try to fit in cat, you know, you try to fit in Tracy, I certainly try to fit in, you know, but, but in actual fact, we just need to be ourselves.
You know, and that's why I love the work that you guys are doing with when beauty and spirit align, because when they do align, we are our true essence, and it's our essence that that shines through. And that's what people see, rather than seeing your imperfections. I have to say, I'm a nurse.
And, and I've never even noticed your Bell's Palsy. No, never. No, I didn't know either.
I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy about 10 years ago. I couldn't figure out why my one side was just, it was either really, really droopy. And so they sent me in for testing.
And that's what I was told. So and it could have happened at birth, it could have happened by some of the violent things that I went through in life. We don't know how it happened.
But it's happened. And I try to embrace it. It's just part of me now.
That's Yeah, me, right? We need to change the way we look at each other. Yes. And that whole judgment piece, right? And as women were the worst to do that.
You know, that's why I love working with women. There's nothing that empowers me and inspires me more than working with women who build each other up, instead of tearing each other down. Well, it's like the meme says, you should be straightening your your fellow woman's crown out not not shoving it off her head or pushing her out of the way.
Absolutely. Right. I mean, you look at different tribes, all the women work together.
Right? There's no animosity. They all have their their, you know, you look at some of these African tribes and the women are in charge of the village. They're the one that look after the kids make the food, make sure that men eat and, and everything and everything's running.
Yeah. So I just, we could talk all afternoon. I know.
And I think, sorry, Tracy, I was just gonna say embracing imperfections can be another one of our episodes, because I think that is something that we all like I found I was hiding my imperfections. And now let's embrace them. Yeah.
And also just a shout out to Sam, to say that this podcast would not be possible without you. So thank you so much. And truly, it's become real with your with your help with your mentorship, with the love that you've poured into us.
So thank you so much for supporting us on this journey. And, and I'm sure all of our listeners are very thankful, as well. Well, thank you, Kat.
So Sam, where should people find you or get in contact with you if they were interested in your Sam Bell inspired bit coaching? So it's website, sambellinspired.com. And over social media, Sam Bell inspired. And I think I'm also on the Angel Empowerment Healing website, because I didn't clarify earlier. Another one of my roles is that I have business partner, Cindy Smith.
And we both teach and promote the Angel Empowerment Healing program. So angel empowerment healing.com. I'm there. I'll just put in Sam Bell inspired, you'll find me.
Don't you? You have a couple of podcasts as well, don't you? I do. Yes, I actually have a podcast with Cindy called the Angel Empowerment Healing show. And then I helped you guys with this one.
And then thought, hold on a minute, I need to do my own. And this was a project that I had had on the back burner for a number of years. And it's called the inspired woman.
And it's a weekly podcast. And I feature women and men who have inspired me and who are in turn inspiring others. I see inspiration as a beautiful cycle of reciprocity.
And yeah, so that's the the inspired woman show. Yeah, I've listened to a couple of the episodes and they're really good. Very interesting.
But I just love I love the how quirky every single one of my guests, I was just actually doing the thumbnails for my next upcoming shows. And I shared with my husband, I said, Look at these pictures, look how quirky these women are. And you know, and it's like, wow, so much personality just coming through with, I asked them to share their favorite picture of themselves.
And it's just so lovely to see, you know, expressing their ways than themselves in different ways. Beautiful. Both me and Kat would like to thank you for joining us today.
And I'm sure we'll have you on another time to there'll be some more stuff we can talk about. So we really we wanted you to be our first guest. So we both chose that we said no Sam needs to be the first guest for this podcast.
So thank you for being our first guest. And this was fun. I could keep going here, but we're for time.
Okay, everyone. So thank you so much for joining us. Thank you, Sam, for for being here and sharing your little story.
And Kat, is there anything you'd like to add? Um, well, my website is officially available for viewing. So if you'd like to check that out, www.kathaynes.com. That's Kat with two T's. So check it out if you're interested.
Awesome. That's great to hear that it's up and running. So yeah, my website is not up and running yet.
But that's okay, because it'll get there when it gets there. And the best way to get a hold of me would be at the Wellness Center. So I think it's Angel Empowerment Wellness Center or angelempowermentcenter.com. And you can go online and you'll find me there.
Yeah. Kat, anything else today? Sam? Anything? I just want to add thank you for for having me and keep an eye on tracylinmorris.com coming to a website near you soon. Yeah.
Take care, everyone. We'll see you on the next episode. Transcribed by https://otter.ai
